Ubutnu Cola is the first Fairtrade certified cola in the world. The African expression Ubuntu comes from Zulu and other bantu languages and means compassion and collaboration.
The sugar in the cola comes from crops in Malawi and Zambia, where the farmers are given a fair compensation for their work. In addition to the usage of the fairtrade sugar, 15% of the profit from sales of the cola is invested in the societies where the cultivation and production are executed.
Except that Ubuntu is appreciated for the social responsibility, blind tests show that also the taste is appreciated by the consumers. One can say that Ubuntu is good for the farmers as well as for the consumers.
